6 Drool-worthy Sydney Burgers to Try!

Published on by Riame

Hi guys! This post is all about BURGERSSSS. Ever since i joined Fatties Burger Appreciation Society, i've been trying a lot of burger places in Sydney. It's kind of hard not to, especially when mouth-watering burger pictures keep popping up on my Facebook newsfeed. I'm sure most non-vegetarians enjoy a good beef burger because let's face it, juicy beef layered with american cheese, bacon and all other sorts of goodies is heaven in a bun. Luckily i'm here to share my thoughts and experiences with you guys so if you want to ever go burger hunting and need a new place to try, please keep reading. You won't regret it.

Bar Luca

52 Phillip St, CBD, Sydney NSW.

The Blame Canada

The Blame Canada

This place is a classic. Every burger lover visits Bar Luca at least once because they are known for their perfectly cooked medium rare beef burgers and their crazy creations. The interesting part is they have weekly burgers and let me tell you, some are pretty damn creative so if you're lucky, try the weekly burger! I had the Blame Canada which is on the menu forever (Thank the Lord) and it consists of beef, maple bacon, poutine and maple aioli. If you like maple, this is maple heaven. The burger was delicious and I also got a side of fries which were okay (not as crunchy as i like). Beef was cooked medium rare just the way i like it and the poutine was an interesting combo witth the maple, i wouldn't say it was the best burger i've ever tasted but in general it's a good solid burger.

Dee Why Hotel

The Trufflenator

The Trufflenator

This place didn't originally have any fancy burgers but then Brad came along and the genius burgers started coming in and so did the burger crowd. The Trufflenator is a burger with a double beef patty, truffle mayo, truffle butter, truffle provolone, truffle maple syrup, bacon, american cheddar and onion rings. Phew, that was a huge list. You may be thinking (deadpool voice), woah that sounds pretty heavy and guess what? It IS heavy. The burger itself isn't really big but it's quite tall and hard to eat. This took awhile to come out, maybe 30 mins+? As i picked the burger up, there was a huge puddle of liquid at the bottom of the plate and i was thinking, what the heck... this whole burger must have been cooked in oil if it literally sweat out a huge puddle BUT... BUTTTT turns out it was maple syrup, which is better than oil.... i guess. The burger was really tasty and i could definitely taste the truffle but it wasn't THAT strong surprisingly even though everything was truffle infused. However it's kind of too heavy for me because right after this, i went into a huge food coma and i couldn't stay awake. No seriously... i was dozing off after this burger and that's never happened to me before. If you like heavy burgers and food comas, go for it!

Chicken and Sons

Buttermilk fried chicken burger

Buttermilk fried chicken burger

I thought i'd let you guys know first, Chicken and Sons is currently under repair because an accident happened in Dec 2015 so they're still trying to fix their shop. They have a pop-up store at Bald Faced Stag Hotel in Leichardt so pop by there if the shop is still closed. I ordered the Buttermilk fried chicken burger which had red cabbage slaw, fried chicken, chipotle aioli, cheese and pickles. One word: AMAZING. Literally best fried chicken burger i've EVER tasted. It was sooooo crunchy but still moist and the chicken was HUGE and so was the burger so you really get your money's worth. The burger itself was just fantastic and the ingredients ALL complimented each other. I also got their chips and they were GOOD GOOD GOOD! Super crunchy just the way i like it. This place is a must try! So hopefully they open soon because i want to go again.

Milk Bar by Cafe Ish

Bad Boy Baconater

Prepare for another heavy burger. This time it's at Redfern! Milk Bar by Cafe Ish has a HUGE selection of burgers so it takes ages to decide what you want. I got the Bad Boy Baconater which consisted of 2 beef and pork patties infused with bacon wrapped in bacon, double american cheese, bacon jam, bacon, onion, peanut butter and smoked maple aioli. If you're a bacon lover, get this! The burger was super thick and pretty heavy but everything went well together even the peanut butter! Patty was cooked perfectly medium rare just the way i like it. I managed to finish the whole thing and i only suffered a mini food coma, HOORAY! I probably wouldn't get it again just because it's on the heavy side and i felt bloated afterwards but it was a good experience. The chips are double fried and they have this amazing texture that is super crunchy on the outside and really fluffy on the inside, you have to try it to know what i mean. I'll definitely go back to try another burger.

Belly Bao

53-55 Liverpool St, Sydney, NSW.

The Baoger

The Baoger

This hyprid creation is a mix between a bao and a burger. Baos have gotten really popular and if you guys didn't know what they were, they're a Taiwanese dish that consists of sandwiching pork between a thin steamed bun called a bao. The Baoger has beef, cheese, lettuce, onion, pickled radish and their special sauce. I got a double patty because i was feeling spontaneous. There were so many good reviews about this burger but it just didn't work for me. The bao kind of fell apart once i started digging in because it's super soft and just couldn't stay in one shape. The sauce was on the salty side.. and the burger just didn't taste that great. The patties were however cooked really well. It's something to try and i guess it really depends on the person because a lot of people like this burger but it just didn't work for me.

Five Points Burgers

124 Walker St, North Sydney, NSW.

The Bronx

The Bronx

This place only has 4 burgers but they do a really good job at making these burgers.. well at least the Bronx. I ordered the Bronx which had a beef pattie, double cheese, tomato sauce, pickles, mustard, aioli, bacon, onion jam and lettuce. The Bronx was delicious. It has got to be one of the best beef burgers i've tasted. There's nothing 'special or fancy' about the burger because all the ingredients are what you find in a regular American burger so no peanut butter or truffle aioli or anything out of the ordinary. But that doesn't mean it's bad, it is a super tasty classic American burger and honestly, classics are sometimes the best. Everything worked well together, beef was perfect and so was the whole burger. I thoroughly enjoyed chomping this down with the chips which were also good. Must try if you like a good classical American burger! Even if you don't, still try it!!
